2019 Graduating Class

David Arnold Jr., son of David and Anita Arnold and attends Carter G. Woodson Academy. He’s been a member of the BMW Academy for 3 years. David’s college and future plans are to attend a four-year college majoring in mechanical engineering. His most memorable BMW moment is the trip to New York. The BMW Academy has taught David how to be a better scholar. A motto or quote David lives by is, “If it’s meant to be, it’s up to me.” Wisdom or advice David has for current or future BMW Academy student’s is, take advantage of what you have.

Khristian Bolden-Sippio, son of the late Rose Cecilia Osborne attends Carter G. Woodson Academy. He’s been a member of the BMW Academy for 6 years. Khristian’s college and future plans are to attend the University of Lousiville majoring in Biomedical Engineering. Khristian’s most memorable BMW moment is, the trip to South Africa.

Dorian Cleveland, son of Roger and Audra Cleveland attends Carter G. Woodson Academy. He’s been a member of the BMW Academy for 7 years. Dorian’s college and future plans are to attend the University of Kentucky to major in History. His most memorable BMW moment was the trip to Dubai. The BMW Academy has taught Dorian his academic potential and the essence of a black man. A motto or quote that Dorian lives by is, “If you can’t fly, then run, if you can’t run, then walk, if you can’t walk, then crawl, just keep moving forward.’ Wisdom or advice Dorian has for current or future BMW Academy student’s is, stay passionate and know from where you came.

Jermaine Cole, son of John and Debbie Cole attends Carter G. Woodson Academy. He’s been a member of the BMW Academy for 7 years. Jermaine’s college and future plans are to attend Western Kentucky University majoring in Broadcast Journalism. His most memorable BMW moment was being recognized for his achievements in front of his family and brothers. The BMW Academy has taught Jermaine discipline, brotherhood and self-determination. A motto or quote that Jermaine lives by is, “God gives 2nd, 3rd and beyond chances.” Wisdom or advice Jermaine has for current or future BMW Academy student’s is, don’t believe you cannot do anything ever when you’re on your last chance, God will provide.

Allen Crow son of Shane and Shalanda Crow attends Frederick Douglass High School. He’s been a member of the BMW Academy for 7 years. Allen’s college and future plans are to attend Western Kentucky University to study filmmaking. His most memorable BMW moment was having an opportunity to visit Kentucky State University and seeing their great band. The BMW Academy has taught Allen how important it is as a black man to over achieve and prove society wrong. A motto or quote that Allen lives by is, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Wisdom or advice Allen has for current or future BMW Academy student’s is, take your educational career seriously, give 110% at all times.

Douglas Elery, Jr., son of Douglas and Dikiea Elery attends Carter G. Woodson Academy. He’s been a member of the BMW Academy for 7 years. Douglas’s college and future plans are to attend Eastern Kentucky University majoring in Entrepreneurship and minoring in Spanish. His most memorable BMW moment is traveling to Dubai and South Africa. The BMW Academy has taught Douglas how to conduct himself as a respectable young man. A motto or quote that Douglas lives by is, “Be yourself, everyone else is already taken.” ~ Oscar Wilde Wisdom or advice Douglas has for current or future BMW Academy student’s is, be yourself, work hard and don’t give up.

Thomas Grey-Lewis, son of Willa C. Lewis attends Carter G. Woodson Academy. He’s been a member of the BMW Academy for 7 years. Thomas’s college and future plans are to attend the University of Kentucky majoring in Criminal Law and Political Science. His most memorable BMW moment was traveling to Florida for college tours and visiting Universal Studios in Orlando. The BMW Academy has taught Thomas brotherhood, college and career readiness and a second family that has my back 24/7. A motto or quote that Thomas lives by is, “I’m interested in making a path instead of following a trail.” ~Michael Jackson Wisdom or advice Thomas has for current or future BMW Academy student’s is, treat every Saturday morning at Bracktown like a tutorial to your favorite game. Listen, learn, practice, internalize and be the better player.

Dorien Hardin, son of Walter Guy and Aasiyaa Hardin attends Henry Clay High School. He’s been a member of the BMW Academy for 4 years. Dorien’s college and future plans are to attend the University of Louisville. His most memorable BMW moment was traveling to San Francisco. The BMW Academy has taught Dorien that you can never succeed unless you put in the effort. A motto or quote that Dorien lives by is, “The future belongs to those who prepare today.” ~Malcolm X Wisdom or advice Dorien has for current or future BMW Academy student’s is, although things may seem tough never give up and continue to push through.

Haiden Hunt, son of Harold and Alicia Hunt, attends Carter G. Woodson Academy. He’s been a member of the BMW Academy for 7 years. Haiden’s college and future plans are to attend Gardner-Webb University on an academic and athletic scholarship majoring in Criminal Justice. Haiden’s most memorable BMW moment is the time he spent traveling to Dubai with his brothers. The BMW Academy has taught Haiden how to handle business as a young black scholar and do things the right way. A motto or quote that Haiden lives by is, “Always remember that David beat Goliath.” Wisdom or advice Haiden has for current or future BMW Academy student’s is, stick with the program and you will see how it changes your life for the better.

Imylah Israel, son of Nakia Chenault attends Bryan Station High School. He’s been a member of the BMW Academy for 7 years. Imylah’s college and future plans are to attend Bluegrass Community and Technical College majoring in Business and Communications. His most memorable BMW moment was going to Alabama on a college and educational trip. The BMW Academy has taught Imylah how to be impactful in every step he takes. A motto or quote that Imylah lives by is, “Your self respect is what matters.” Wisdom or advice Imylah has for current or future BMW Academy student’s is, always stay socially awake do not be ignorant towards society’s problems.

Cameron Jackson, son of Ursula Jackson attends Lafayette High School. He’s been a member of the BMW Academy for 7 years. Cameron’s college and future plans are to attend Eastern Kentucky University majoring in Biomedical (Pre-Dental) Science. His most memorable BMW moment was the trip to South Africa. The BMW Academy has taught Cameron how being committed to something pays off in the long run. A motto or quote that Cameron lives by is, “Associate yourself with people of good quality, for it is better to be alone than to be in bad company.” ~Booker T. Washington Wisdom or advice Cameron has for current or future BMW Academy student’s is, if you’re not investing in yourself then who will?

Fre’Derick Jewett, son of the late Donna Weaver attends Carter G. Woodson Academy. He’s been a member of the BMW Academy for 2 years. Fre’Derick’s college and future plans are currently undecided. His most memorable BMW moment was traveling to South Africa. The BMW Academy has taught Fre’Derick how to become a knowledgeable young man. A motto or quote that Fre’Derick lives by is, “Good, better, best, never let it rest, until your good is better and better Is best.” Wisdom or advice Fre’Derick has for current or future BMW Academy student’s is, keep working, BMW is here to support and help you, no matter what.

Renardo Johnson Jr., son of Renardo and Alisha Johnson attends Bryan Station High School. He’s been a member of the BMW Academy for 7 years. Renardo’s college and future plans are to attend the University of Kentucky majoring in Journalism with a minor in Spanish. His most memorable BMW moment was going to South Africa. The BMW Academy has taught Renardo to never give up. A motto or quote that Renardo lives by is, “Yes we can.” ~President Barack Obama Wisdom or advice Renardo has for current or future BMW Academy student’s is, never give up.

Zion Lansden, son of Winston and Donna Lansden attends KORE Academy. He’s been a member of the BMW Academy for 7 years. Zion’s college and future plans are to attend Carl D. Perkins Vocational School to study CVS-Pharmacy. His most memorable BMW moment was the educational trip to San Francisco. The BMW Academy has taught Zion the importance of being an educated young black man. A motto or quote that Zion lives by is, “Psalm: 150”. Wisdom or advice Zion has for current or future BMW Academy student’s is, work hard and stay focused.

Jonathan Lott, Jr., son of Jonathan and Chundra Lott attends Carter G. Woodson Academy. He’s been a member of the BMW Academy for 6 years. Jonathan’s college and future plans are to attend North Carolina A&T majoring in Electrical Engineering. His most memorable BMW moment is going to South Africa. The BMW Academy has reinforced the mindset with Jonathan that African American males are special and can achieve high in life. A motto or quote that Jonathan lives by is, “Stay humble.” Wisdom or advice Jonathan has for current or future BMW Academy student’s is, continue to allow people who love you to push you to the extent you that you can achieve on your own.

Micah Lowe, son of Lezell and Monica Lowe attends Carter G. Woodson Academy. He’s been a member of the BMW Academy for 7 years. Micah’s college and future plans are undecided on the college or university, but plans to major in Sports Science and become a Physical Therapist. His most memorable BMW moment is traveling to Dubai his freshman year. The BMW Academy has taught Micah that he is the standard of excellence. A motto or quote that Micah lives by is, “Never Peak”. Wisdom or advice Micah has for current or future BMW Academy student’s is, invest yourself in BMW and meet Mrs. Akins and Dr. Cleveland half way. They’ll take you places you cannot take yourself.

Jayden Lydian, son of Darnell Lydian and TriQuina Roberts attends Carter G. Woodson Academy. He’s been a member of the BMW Academy for 7 years. Jayden’s college and future plans are to attend Georgetown College on scholarship. His most memorable BMW moment is traveling to Dubai his freshman year. The BMW Academy has taught Jayden to persevere and never let anyone tell you what you can and can not do. A motto or quote that Jayden lives by is, “Just remember, the people that say your dreams are impossible, have already quit theirs, so don’t listen and don’t give up on yours.” Wisdom or advice Jayden has for current or future BMW Academy student’s is, take advantage of what Mrs. Akins and Dr. Cleveland give you. It will take you far and help you reach your goals.

George McClung, son of Tina Holman attends Carter G. Woodson Academy. He’s been a member of the BMW Academy for 7 years. George’s college and future plans are to attend the University of Louisville majoring in Accounting. His most memorable BMW moment is when Mrs. Akins stopped me at Kroger and told me to speak at the jacket ceremony unexpectedly with less than two hours of prep. The BMW Academy has taught George confidence and to show leadership within society as a black man. A motto or quote that George lives by is, “Keep God first, keep moving forward and never take your foot off the gas.” Wisdom or advice George has for current or future BMW Academy student’s is, keep your brothers close and always be kind and outgoing because it will take you far in life.

Ni’Kerrion McDonald, son of Teresa Lee attends Lafayette High School. He’s been a member of the BMW Academy for 7 years. Ni’Kerrion’s college and future plans are to attend college and major in Music Business. His most memorable BMW moment is traveling to South Africa to learn about African culture. The BMW Academy has taught Ni’Kerrion to always strive to exceed expectations. A motto or quote that Ni’Kerrion lives by is, “If you can’t fly then run, if you can’t run then walk, if you can’t walk then crawl, but whatever you do you have to keep moving.” ~Martin Luther King, Jr. Wisdom or advice Ni’Kerrion has for current or future BMW Academy student’s is, never settle for mediocrity and do whatever it takes to be successful.

Chase Pressley, son of Mark and Shelia Presley attends Madison Central High School. He’s been a member of the BMW Academy for 3 years. Chase’s college and future plans are to attend the University of Louisville’s Speed School of Engineering. His most memorable BMW moment is traveling to South Africa with my fellow BMW scholars. The BMW Academy has taught Chase responsibility for everything that he does. A motto or quote that Chase lives by is, “Today do what others won’t so tomorrow you can do what other can’t.” Wisdom or advice Chase has for current or future BMW Academy student’s is, take advantage of every opportunity.

Rasaan Thompson, son of Marcus and Rashida Thompson attends Frederick Douglass High School. He’s been a member of the BMW Academy for 7 years. Rasaan’s college and future plans are attend college and major in Business Administration and Marketing. His most memorable BMW moment was when the academy had four successful entrepreneurs, one that appeared on Shark Tank, come and speak to the students. The BMW Academy has taught Rasaan that he’s more than a label and labels are as powerful as I make them. A motto or quote that Rasaan lives by is, “Stay Consistent.” Wisdom or advice Rasaan has for current or future BMW Academy student’s is, work hard and take advantage of the opportunities.

Stan Shelby Jr., son of Stan and Cynthia Shelby attends Tates Creek High School. He’s been a member of the BMW Academy for 7 years. Stan’s college and future plans are to attend Murray State or the University of Kentucky. His most memorable BMW moment is traveling to Dubai. The BMW Academy has taught Stan that African Americans can rise above any stereotype. A motto or quote that Stan lives by is, ‘Work smarter, not harder.” Wisdom or advice Stan has for current or future BMW Academy student’s is, strive for good grades to be successful in the program.

Taylon Taylor, son of Crystal Taylor attends Dunbar High School. He’s been a member of the BMW Academy for 3 years. Taylon’s college and future plans are to attend Eastern Kentucky University majoring in Music Industry/Therapy. His most memorable BMW moment is the trip to South Africa. The BMW Academy has taught Taylon a deeper understanding and appreciation for his education and how to survive being a black male. A motto or quote that Taylon lives by is, “If it scares you, it may be a good thing to try.” Wisdom or advice Taylon has for current or future BMW Academy student’s is, don’t take life for granted appreciate the time now.

Devin Thompson, son of James and Deana Thompson attends Bryan Station High School. He’s been a member of the BMW Academy for 3 years. Devin’s college and future plans are to attend the University of Kentucky majoring in medicine. His most memorable BMW moment was the trip to South Africa and the culture. The BMW Academy has taught Devin to strive for and represent excellence. A motto or quote that Devin lives by is, “ Attitude determines results, don’t let results determine your attitude!” Wisdom or advice Devin has for current or future BMW Academy student’s is, have pride in everything that you do.

Griffin Weathers, son of Mr. and Mrs. Weathers attends Bryan Station High School. He’s been a member of the BMW Academy for 7 years. Griffin’s college and future plans are to attend Hampton University to study Aviation. His most memorable BMW moment is going to Dubai and South Africa. The BMW Academy has taught Griffin responsibility. A motto or quote that Griffin lives by is, “Nothing can hold you back other than yourself.” Wisdom or advice Griffin has for current or future BMW Academy student’s is, go to Mama Keefe for the ACT prep.

Anthony Wright, son of Brandon and Rachel Wright attends Carter G. Woodson Academy. He’s been a member of the BMW Academy for 7 years. Anthony’s college and future plans are to attend the University of Louisville’s Speed School of Engineering. His most memorable BMW moment is going to Dubai. The BMW Academy has taught Anthony leadership, brotherhood, and self-worth. A motto or quote that Anthony lives by is, “Be the change that you wish to see in the world.” Wisdom or advice Anthony has for current or future BMW Academy student’s is, to stay committed to the program and take what they tell you to heart.

What makes our youth gifted and talented may not always be good grades in school, but a different way of looking at the world and learning.
